While Raybiotech recently released their 2000 target antibody array, a publication from “The Scientist” highlighted the benefit of these High-density multiplexed technology in biomarker discovery. As a perfect complement to traditional techniques like Mass Spectrometry, these antibody arrays provide an interesting alternative for low abundance targets, with a sensitive and high throughput approach. tebu-bio laboratories has been appointed by RayBiotech as one of the 3 companies worldwide to perform contract research on these arrays, and can take your project on board from sample processing to data analysis. This post summarizes the services available, from protein profiling, to phosphorylation and glycosylation studies, including biostatistics support. It’s worth noting that all the arrays listed are compatible with most laser scanners and can be processed in any lab.
Protein Profiling
If you are “fishing” for biomarkers on patient samples (diseased versus healthy, treated versus non-treated…), keen to know more about a disease pathophysiological mechanism without much initial insight, or assessing the impact of your compound on biological processes, or simply at an early stage of your new drug development, tebu-bio laboratories’ « high density » profiling platform will allow you to do so on a large selection of protein targets, at a reasonable cost.
We work with either sandwich or label based arrays depending on your need. As many as 2000 human proteins, 640 mouse or 67 rat proteins can be studied in a single sample. We can also help with biostatistics if you need support in analyzing your data.
High Density L-Series
These label based arrays (the sample is biotinylated and labeled with a fluorescent streptavidin) accommodate as many as 500 antibodies per array, allowing small sample volumes processing (eg. as little as 30ul plasma or serum). They come as 4 sample format allowing cost effective broad profiling, especially when sample volume is limited (pediatric samples, mouse sera…). A combination of 4 arrays allows for a 2000 human protein screening, including metabolic enzymes, structural proteins, epigenetic markers, hormones, and neuroregulatory factors – in addition to cytokines, growth factors, receptors, adipokines, proteases, and signaling proteins.
High Density G-Series
These antibody arrays based on a sandwich pair assay provide the sensitivity and specificity of an ELISA. 40 antibodies are spotted on each array with potential combinations of 25 different arrays to make up for 1000 human or 640 mouse protein screening. When sample volume is not limited, they provide an excellent alternative. Any type of biological sample can be processed on these arrays.

Phosphorylation Studies
If you are interested in looking at multiple phosphorylation patterns in your cells or tissue samples, tebu-bio laboratories services cover either pathway focused profiling or broader screening based on phosphoarray technologies.
Signalling Pathway focused
If you already know which pathway(s) you wish to look at, you can choose from a range of readily available phosphoarrays to profile relative expression of proteins from any of the most popular signalling pathways such as : Akt, ERK, GPCR, JAK/STAT, MAPK, mTOR, NF-kB, RTK, TGF beta, Wnt…. Each array is spotted with pathway specific antibodies, from 100 to 300 per array. The data generated are relative expression ratio of signalling proteins or of their phosphorylation status in your samples.
Broader phosphorylation screening
If you do not have any preconceived idea regarding the pathway you wish to look at but need a broader profiling to understand where you stand with your samples, tebu-bio laboratories can provide several options :
- performing a medium throughput cell signalling phospho-profiling on 16 different pathways with 306 antibodies covering MAPK, Jak/Stat, Apoptosis, Autophagy, Cell cycle events…
- performing a broader phospho-profiling with site-specific antibodies from over 30 signaling pathways
These arrays are very similar in terms of technology to the L-Series (see below):
Glycosylation profiling
Lectin profiling
To determine your sample glycan profile or find novel glycan ligands, all within limited sample volume, this lectin array services allow you to screen either 70 or 95 different lectins simultaneously.
Glycan profiling
Our glycan profiling service will allow you to detect binding partners for either 100 or 300 different glycans in purified proteins, serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, cell/tissue lysates or other body fluids.
2 methods possible depending on what you are looking for:
- In the label-based method, the proteins or antibodies in the sample are biotin labeled allowing direct detection on the array via a Cy3 equivalent dye conjugated biotin-streptavidin complex.
- The sandwich-based method is used for antibody-based detection of target proteins captured on the array where you supply the labeled reporter antibodies specific for your protein of interest and determine specific antibody concentrations and conditions (see below for details)
You will find more details on both lectin and glycan arrays in this post.
Biostatistics services
tebu-bio works with biostatistics and bioinformatics experts to analyze your data with care. We provide different types of analysis according to your need: data clean up, differential expression analysis, pathway analysis, biomarkers selection… See more details in this post with reports examples.
Our Biomarker services webpage illustrates all these options, including technologies for downstream validation of your screening data obtained with these arrays.
