Human and Animal Dermal S9 Fractions now available as standard products
Subcellular fractions are widely used in drug discovery and preclinical drug development to evaluate the in vitro metabolism of new therapeutics. Skin fractions are already available from tebu-bio as catalogue items for CD1 Mouse and IGS Sprague Dawley Rat.
In collaboration with Sekisui XenoTech, tebu-bio is now adding human and minipig dermal subcellular fractions to the list of species available as standard test systems.
Many drug metabolizing enzymes of the liver and other visceral organs are also expressed in the skin. While skin possesses a wide variety of metabolic enzymes, specific enzymatic activity is typically less than 10% of that found in the liver. However, skin plays a significant role in the biotransformation of transdermal xenobiotics.
Dermal subcellular fractions can therefore provide more representative results than commonly used fractions. The release of these skin fractions as standard items ensures a wide assortment of in stock, ready-to-use reagents.
- Large donor pools minimize lot-to-lot variation
- Large lots ensure long-term product availability
- Matching S9 and microsome donor pools
