Easy single-cell isolation with Smart Aliquotor

Smart Aliquotor

Single-cell isolation allows genomic and transcriptomic analysis of one individual cell. It is also required to build a monoclonal cell line from rare cell isolation, that could be for example CRISPR-CAS9 gene edited cells. There are 3 popular methods: serial dilution, micro-manipulation and flow cytometry. None of these are easy or simple, and they often require expertise and experience. Fortunately, a new solution for everybody has come! It’s designed to isolate a single cell in a few seconds, and it’s (quite appropriately) called the Smart Aliquotor.

Just one press of your thumb for immediate single-cell isolation

Adding 100-200µl of cell culture into the centre of the Smart Aliquotor provides 30-40 single cells with high viability.

To see for yourself how simple it is, watch the 23-second video below.

Basic and useful features of Smart Aliquotor for single-cell isolation

Smart Aliquotor is cheap and convenient for single-cell isolation, to get rare cells and for simple cloning.

  • Easy to use
  • Excellent cell compatibility
  • High cell viability (~100%)
  • High yield (30-40 single cells par plate)

Furthermore, each single cell can be identified and selected thanks to its position.

Comparison of single-cell isolation methods

Smart Aliquotor is very simple and fast, even easier than serial dilution. It doesn’t require instruments or expertise. It offers the best selectivity, and the highest throughput among manual methods, without compromising on cell viability. The Smart Aliquotor is also versatile since it is compatible with large and small cells, even below 50µm of diameter.

Convenient tool to boost gene editing

With a simple press of your thumb on the pipette you perform single-cell isolation. It unleashes the power of gene editing since monoclonal selection of knock-out and knock-in becomes a piece of cake.

One cost-efficient strategy for KO is to deliver into the cells CAS9 and the sgRNA without vector. It is also safe, ensuring no plasmid or virus integration in the genome of the cells. It can be performed with our complete CRISPR box or using our CleanCap CAS9 mRNA adding your own designed gRNA. Nevertheless, it requires monoclonal cell line establishment and analysis. Thanks to the Smart Aliquotor, there are no more inconveniences.

Then, amplification of the monoclonal helps with the preparation of the next generation sequencing (NGS) libraries. And for real single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) there is a another format with barcoded beads called the ‘1 Million microwell device‘.
