ALP Conjugate Stabilizer is to be used with calf intestinal Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) conjugated primary or secondary antibodies or other proteins or compounds in solution.   The components of the stabilizer (proprietary) are unique, and stabilize both the antibody and enzyme portions of the conjugate. HEPES is a useful buffer for pH's ranging from 6.8-8.2. This makes HEPES ideal for cell culturing because of its usefulness in maintaining pH changes in presence of carbon dioxide production from cellular respiration. 1.0 M HEPES pH 7.2 is ideal for investigators in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and Immunology researchers.

HEPES is a zwitterionic organic chemical buffering agent, and is widely used in cell culture, largely because it is better at maintaining physiological pH despite changes in carbon dioxide concentration (produced by cellular respiration) when compared to bicarbonate buffers, which are also commonly used in cell culture. HEPES is like water in that its dissociation decreases as the temperature decreases. This makes HEPES a more effective buffering agent for maintaining enzyme structure and function at low temperatures.
