NH-bis(PEG8-Boc) serves as a PEG linker including two terminal Boc groups that can be deprotected under mild acidic conditions to form the free amine as well as a central amine group with PEG chains on either side for improved water solubility of the compound.

N-(Mal-PEG2-carbonyl)-N-bis(PEG4-acid) is a branched PEG linker containing two terminal carboxylic groups which can react with amines in the presence of activators such as HATU. The maleimide reacts with a thiol group to form a covalent bond. The PEG units increase the aqueous solubility of the molecule.
