1X TES pH 7.8 DEPC TREATED - TES buffer is a commonly used buffer solution in molecular biology, especially in procedures involving DNA or RNA. TES buffer is useful to stabilize proteins, DNA, or RNA, while protecting it from degradation.

HEPES is a useful buffer for pH's ranging from 6.8-8.2. This makes HEPES ideal for cell culturing because of its usefulness in maintaining pH changes in presence of carbon dioxide production from cellular respiration. 1.0 M HEPES pH 7.2 is ideal for investigators in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and Immunology researchers.

HEPES is a zwitterionic organic chemical buffering agent, and is widely used in cell culture, largely because it is better at maintaining physiological pH despite changes in carbon dioxide concentration (produced by cellular respiration) when compared to bicarbonate buffers, which are also commonly used in cell culture. HEPES is like water in that its dissociation decreases as the temperature decreases. This makes HEPES a more effective buffering agent for maintaining enzyme structure and function at low temperatures.
