Fmoc-Ala-PAB-PNP is a reagent consisting of the amino acid, alanine, linked to a PAB and PNP carbonate at its C-terminus, an Fmoc protecting group on its N-terminus. The PNP carbonate is a highly activated electrophile which readily reacts with amines to form carbamates with a given drug payload, while the Fmoc protecting group can be removed with piperidine to allow for coupling with carboxylic acids to form amides.
