Cardiolipin (CL) is an important component of the prokaryotic and eukaryotic inner mitochondrial membrane. In humans CL is made by cardiolipin synthase from phosphatidylglycerol and cytidinediphosphate-diacylglycerol. Monolysocardiolipin (MCL) is an intermediate in CL remodeling. Acetyl transferase tafazzin mutations impairing linoleic acid transfer to MCL are considered the main reason of Barth syndrome; and autoantibodies to MCL have been found in patients with anti-phospholipid syndrome and lupus. Fluorescent lipids have been used in TLC electrophoresis microplatefluorescent assays and sub-cellular localization experiments.

Glycerophosphoinositol (GroPI) is the building block for phosphoinositide polyphosphates and is a substrate for PI-PLC.Phosphoinositides (PIPns) are minor components of cellular membranes but are integral signaling molecules for cellular communication. Phosphatidylinositol (PI or PtdIns) is biosynthesized from CDP-diacylglycerol and inositol by phosphatidylinositol synthase. PI is the building block for phosphoinositide polyphosphates through phosphorylation by PI-kinases and is a substrate for PI-PLC yielding diacylgelycerol.Bulk discounts available please email echelon@echelon-inc.com for information.

1-Palmitoyl-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphoinositol (16:0 LysoPI LPI) is a synthetic purified palmitoyl PI.Lysophospholipids are lipid mediators which elicit a diverse array of cellular responses through activation of phospholipid specific G protein-coupled receptors. Lysophosphatidylinositol (LPI) induces a number of cellular effects through binding to the GPR55 receptor including angiogenesis bone morphogenesis cancer progression and pain. In addition LPI is thought to be a biomarker for certain cancers.
