Sphinganine-fluorescein is a fluorophore conjugated sphinganine that can be used for fluorescent analysis of lipid synthesis.Sphinganine (or Dihydrosphingosine) is an intermediate in the sphingolipid biosynthetic pathway. It is formed by the reduction of 3-Ketodihydrosphingosine Reductase (KDHR). Sphinganine is then acylated by Dihydroceramide synthase but can also act as a substrate for sphingosine kinases. Sphinganine can also inhibit Protein kinase C. Sphinganine-fluorescein is labeled at the terminal position (ex/em = 494/520 nm).

Sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) is a bioactive lysophospholipid formed by phosphorylation of sphingosine by sphingosine kinases. S1P binds to five G-protein coupled receptors designated S1P1-5 leading to cell proliferation motility and has a role in regulation cell shape. In addition S1P acts as an intracellular mediator in a receptor-independent manner regulating cell survival and Ca2+ homeostasis. Powered by Bioz See more details on Bioz

S1P Lyase Fluorogenic Substrate is designed for monitoring S1PL activity by releasing fluorescent 7-hydroxycoumarin in the presence of active enzyme.Sphingosine-1-phosphate lyase (S1PL) cleaves sphingosine-1-phosphate into hexadecenal and phosphoethanolamine. S1PL has been proposed as a target for autoimmune disorder treatment and in cancer therapy. Powered by Bioz See more details on Bioz

Sphingomyelin is a lipid constituent in the exoplasmic face of cell membranes. Sphingomyelin is hydrolyzed by Sphingomyelinases to the proapoptotic messenger Ceramide and phosphorylcholine. Biotin Sphingomyelin can be bound to streptavidin coated surfaces for protein binding experiments and assay development.

Ceramide 1-phosphate (C1P) is biosynthesized from ceramide by the intracellular enzyme Ceramide kinase. C1P inhibits cell apoptosis via inhibition of acid sphingomyelinase activity in contrast to ceramide which promotes apoptosis. C1P is important in inflammation activating cytosolic phospholipase A2 alpha and releasing downstream inflammatory mediators. In addition C1P is involved in DNA synthesis mast cell degranulation and neutrophil phagocytosis.
