Bombesin (BBN) is a 14-amino acid neuropeptide originally isolated from the skin of Bombina bombina. The bombesin-related family comprises three other peptides, the amphibian homologs alytesin and Neuromedin C (NMC), and the mammalian peptide named Gastrin-Releasing Peptide (GRP). Bombesin and bombesin-related peptides are characterized by a region of homology at the carboxy-terminus ending with Gly-His-Leu-Met-NH2, in which resides their biological activity. Bombesin is active in mammals and affects a broad range of biological functions including smooth muscle contraction, cell growth, blood pressure, plasma glucose, as well as gastric secretions2. These effects are mediated by the interaction of Bombesin peptide with G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) called bombesin receptors that are well represented in the gastrointestinal tract and in the central nervous system (CNS). Bombesin peptide is a potent natural agonist of the mammalian Gastrin Releasing Peptide Receptor (GRPR) also kno

Thrombin Receptor Activator Peptide 6 (TRAP-6), also called Selective Protease-Activated Receptor 1 (PAR-1) Agonist, is an hexapeptide fragment of the thrombin receptor (residues 42-47). TRAP-6 has been shown to selectively activate PAR1 and thus induce platelet aggregation (EC50 = 0.8 μM). Its usefulness has therefore been demonstrated in cardiovascular study models and in hematology. Biologically, TRAP-6 is the N-terminal fragment of the thrombin receptor resulting from its cleavage by thrombin. This peptide therefore offers a cost-effective solution for the study of in-vitro cardiovascular models. What is PAR-1 ? Proteinase-activated receptor 1 (PAR1), also known as coagulation factor II (thrombin) receptor, is a G protein-coupled receptor and is involved in the regulation of thrombotic response. It is highly expressed in platelets and endothelial cells Other Applications ? Therefore, this peptide was used to activate platelets in vitro but it also demonstrated a protective act

This peptide is derived from tyrosinase-related protein 2 (TRP2) residues 180-188. TRP2, also named L-dopachrome tautomerase, H-2KB or DCT, belongs to the melanocyte differentiation antigens and has been implicated as a target for immunotherapy of human as well as murine melanoma. Studies show that this TRP2 derived peptide can bind to mouse and human MHC class Imolecules. Immunization with TRP2 peptide loaded dendritic cells (DCs) results in effective induction of antitumor immunity

Lysine peptide (Ac RFAAKAA COOH) is used in combination with cysteine peptide (Ac RFAACAA COOH) in the Direct Peptide Reactivity Assay (DPRA) test. Direct Peptide Reactivity Assay is used in cosmetic applications for the characterization of the skin sensitizing potential of a substance, framed by OECD Guideline no 442. The molecular initiating event (MIE) in skin sensitization is a binding between epidermal proteins and the sensitizing chemical substance. MIE is part of the adverse outcome pathway (AOP) of skin sensitization. It is thanks to the properties of Lysine peptide and Cysteine peptide that the chemical binding will be able to take place, so these synthetic heptapeptides will mimic the reaction of a skin exposed to a substance. Binding between nucleophilic proteins and electrophile substance will be measured by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Therefore, the decrease in Lysine peptide and Cysteine peptide levels will be a sign of sensitizing event. Depending o

sb-PEPTIDE offers you a turnkey solution for your multiple sclerosis (MS) studies with an experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis kit (EAE kit). Each kit provided allows the induction of EAE in 10 mice. The kit contains 2.5mL of MOG35-55/CFA emulsion, one vial containing 5µg pertussis toxin (PTX) in glycerol buffer and a recommended experimental protocol with typical results. MOG35-55/CFA emulsion Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glucoprotein (MOG) is used in emulsion with Complete Freund’s Adjuvant (CFA) in EAE studies. Emulsification is an important step in the success of the study, results will depend on this phase. sb-PEPTIDE proposes to provide you with your MOG/CFA emulsion already pre-filled in ready-to-use syringes. The complete Freund’s adjuvant is used as an immunopotentiator, It is composed of inactivated and dried mycobacteria and used with MOG to induce EAE. Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis is the model commonly used to study efficacy of drugs for treatment of multiple

Angiotensin II plays an essential role in the maintenance of blood pressure and blood volume. It is a peptide hormone that causes vasoconstriction, a sensation of thirst, and stimulation of the adrenal cortex and aldosterone. Derived from the cleavage of angiotensin I by the angiotensin converting enzyme, angiotensin II is involved in the renin-angiotensin system (RAS). Angiotensin II is the subject of much scientific research and is already the target of many anti-hypertensive drugs (ACE inhibitors, ARBs or AT1 receptor antagonists). Involvement in Covid-19 : The Sars-CoV-2 responsible for Covid-19 binds to angiotensin II converting enzyme receptors to infect human cells. These receptors are found in large numbers in certain organs, so the virus can have deleterious effects: – in the nose, these receptors are numerous on the mucous membrane, resulting in the loss of the sense of smell; – In the brain, these receptors are present in the cortex and brain stem and affected patients suf

Ovotransferrin 328-332, also called Conalbumin 328-332, is a part of the egg white albumen. Anti-hypertensive activity RVPSL peptide has been described to have a protective activity on the blood pressure by inhibiting the Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE). Ovotransferrin 328-332 peptide would be a serious drug candidate, as powerful as current drugs and without side effects. Involvement in Alzheimer’s disease This peptide fragment demonstrated recently an activity against Acetylcholinesterase (AchE), which is implicated in Alzheimer’s diseases. Actually, a deficiency in the brain levels of acetylcholine is seen as key step in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer disease. Otherwise, Ovostransferrin 328-332 seems to be involved in a possible inhibition of beta-site APP clieaving enzyme 1 (BACE1), which is one of the most promising new therapeutic approaches for Alzheimer’s diseases. Indeed, this receptor induce the formation of Amyloid Beta, a typical peptide from Alzheimer’s diseases
